Ok, I admit it. I have an perhaps unhealthy obsession over understanding how all sorts of things work. I like to observe, design, build and take things apart things, any technology really, from gadgets to renewable energy to economics.
For example, the architecture of participation has been an interest for as long as I can remember. Eigenvector centrality, yep. Collective intelligence and collaborative filtering, yes again, pretty much anything collaborative gets my interest. Gifting economies, los folksonomistas and open source, definitely. Neo-tribalism, yep. Geo-computing, yep yep. Getting to carbon neutral, for certain.
And I like shiny objects. And moving images. And that feeling you get listening to music. And objects with attitude that travel fast, as well as relatively slower and quieter designs with keels. Oh, and pizza, almost always from Joe's (located just north of Bleecker, west side of 6th avenue) when I'm home in NYC. And my favourite beer is, well there's a tie for first place these days, Guinness and Chimay Blue.
My name is Robert DESIDERI (in case you don't recognise me from the pic). When not watching films or under the influence of my iPod I can be found messing with cameras and software and at other times working on finance and technology projects. I'm not an Internet pundit or anything like that, just a regular guy with a heterogeneous interests set, a predisposition towards clever peeps doing smart projects and I, luckily, don't require much sleep.
This blog is an experiment for me. If after checking out a vlog or podcast or suffering my bad writing you're still into chatting, pound out an email, I'm usually good for a less than 24 hour turnaround.
